Instructions
- Bring the water to a boil in a large pot. Stir in half of the table salt, add the spaghetti or whole-wheat spaghetti, and cook until tender according to its package timing. Drain the spaghetti.
- While the spaghetti cooks, mince the garlic and chop the basil. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat and cook the garlic for about 30 seconds without browning it.
- Add the tomato sauce, remaining table salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, then stir in the basil.
- Toss the drained spaghetti with the tomato garlic sauce. Top with the Parmesan cheese or vegan Parmesan and serve hot.
